Dalegarth is a beautiful 9 bedroom guesthouse set in stunning grounds on the edge of the pristine buttermere lake with private parking.
Here at Dalegarth we always offer a warm welcome and a choice of comfortable rooms including doubles, family, twin, en-suite and standard, all with tea and coffee making facilities. A hearty full english breakfast, continental choice, cereals, juices and fruit are also on offer as are packed lunches and a variety of sweet treats.
Our large 35 pitch campsite with showers, toilets and drying room is set in the beautiful grounds of dalegarth house, nestled below the Peak of Robinson in a tranquil woodland setting, only 2 minutes walk from the lake edge.

Situated at the foot of the dramatic Honister pass you enter the magical world of the late Alfred Wainwright.
Buttermere is one of the purest lakes in england and home to a wide variety of native wildlife. The lake itself has aquatic plants such as water lobelia, shore weed and quillwort. Fish include, arctic char, salmon, pike, eel and brown trout.
Buttermere is also a paradise for ornathologists with an abundance of species including woodpecker, nut hatchers, cookoo, yellow hammers and many more. On the lake you may see the crested greeb, or you could be lucky enough to spot the golden eagle soaring high above.
Around Dalegath itself, we have red squirrell,deer, fox and badger. If you are an early riser, you may even see our resident otter family by the lakeside.
Buttermere is surrounded by spectacular view of the fells and Dalegarth House is an ideal base for walkers of all ages and abilities. Take a sedate 15 minute walk along the lakeside to buttermere village where there are two pubs serving evening meals and cask ales. There is also a cafe selling cakes and homemede ice cream.
If you are feeling more energetic many well known walks start from the lakeside path including haystacks, fleetwith pike, red pike and even Great Gable and Scarfel Pike are in easy reach.
Alternatively, visit Honister Slate mine situated at the top of the pass which offers mine tours, zip rides and an excellent cafe.
The surrounding area offers a wide range of attractions easily reached by car or the local bus service which links Dalegarth house to Keswick and Cockermouth.
