Briery Wood Hotel
Originally the "Holbeck Cottage", the house was built near the end of the 19th century and contains many of its original features including the wooden staircase leading up to the first floor. It was a part of the Earl of Lonsdales estate and originally a house for the servants for his nearby properties. The main gardener lived here and he developed the garden which a lot of the original design can still be seen today.
It was occupied by the Brown Family in the early Fifties whose father was in charge of putting electricity into the local valleys.
It was sold and became a guest house in the early seventies and became a Hotel in 1982. It has had many changes since and in February 1998 its present owners took charge and have restored many features to retain its country house charm
