Viver Watermill

History

Viver Mill was once a working corn mill, driven by water power, dating back to the 13th century and mentioned in the Doomsday Book. The mill was working until 1950 – when no fewer than twenty-five farmers used to bring corn to the mill. There were three sets of stones for grinding; two for making Oatmeal and one for cattle food.
Present

Viver Mill has now been sympathetically restored by the present owners, Ian and Dianne, and many of the original features have been retained.

The mill is surrounded by country side and farmland and has panoramic views down the valley towards Farleton Knott.

The grounds are 1.5 acres of mature garden, split into individual rooms and include an orchard. The focal points are the mill pond, the original mill race and the operational water wheel.

Guests are encouraged to enjoy and relax in the garden and sit beside the mill pond or in the summer house overlooking the mill stream.
