Mealsgate Cottages

Mealsgate is a small village, on the Cockermouth road to Carlisle, the A595. It is south of Wigton. An unusual restaurant in the Mealsgate area is the Coach House Swiss Restaurant, a family run European restaurant with a strong Swiss influence. Swiss cuisine as well as English dishes is served. Fondue evenings are held regularly. There are self catering cottages on the private estate of Whitehall, south of Mealsgate on the northern edge of the Lake District National Park. It is also possible to rent Whitehalls 14th century Pele Tower, which sleeps eight people. There are other cottages within the area including farm building and barn conversions.
