Kendal Hotels

Kendal is an important market town south east of Windermere close to the M6 north-south motorway (junction 36). The buildings are mostly a local grey limestone: the source of the towns nickname of the Auld Grey Town. Visit the town for shopping: art galleries and craft shops, major stores in the Westmorland Shopping Centre and bargains at K Village Factory Shopping. In the Friends Meeting House, the Quaker Tapestry Exhibition tells the Quaker story from the 17th-Century to modern today. More than 4,000 people made it, from 15 countries. Quaker costumes are also part of the display. There are several quality hotels near the centre of Kendal and within a few miles distance.
