Holmrook Hotels

Holmrook is a linear village on the A595, two miles north of Ravenglass, with a pub and post office. It is on the west bank of the River Irt. Sea trout and salmon fishing is popular. St Pauls church has a Celtic 9th century cross and memorials to the Lewis Carroll family, real name Charles Dodgson (of Alice in Wonderland fame). Ireton Hall was visited by Cromwell and Henry VI and is said to have two ghosts. There are two hotels and inns close to the village and guesthouse/bed and breakfast (b&b) accommodation within a few miles.
