Haverthwaite B&BHaverthwaite is a small village not far from the coast in the Furness region, within the boundaries of the Lake District National Park. It is east of Ulverston and near the southern end of Windermere. A gunpowder works, Low Wood, was established in 1798 and continued until 1935. The River Leven, which drains Windermere, was used to transport the gunpowder. A popular tourist attraction is the preserved steam railway that commences at Haverthwaite and continues on to Lakeside on Windermere. There are a number of hotels within two miles of Haverthwaite but only one in the village. The others are in Newby Bridge or Ulverston. There is also only a limited amount of b&b (bed and breakfast)/guesthouse accommodation in the village but more within a short distance further afield along the A590.
