Glenridding B&B

Glenridding is a village located at the south end of Ullswater in the north east Lake District. It is especially popular with mountain walkers who tackle England's third highest mountain, Helvellyn, and other difficult peaks from here. The village has a good range of accommodation including two Youth Hostels and camping sites. There is also a small selection of hotels, guesthouses and b&bs (bed and breakfasts). On Easter Monday every year, a duck race is organised by the local mountain rescue team to raise funds. The site of the largest lead mine in the Lake District is above the village at Greenside. Lead ore was discovered in the 17th century and mined until 1962. Without the mine, Glenridding and many nearby houses would not have existed.
