Dalton-in-Furness Hotels

An ancient settlement, Dalton-in-Furness is currently a small town of approximately 11,000 people, north-east of Barrow-in-Furness. Historically, Dalton not Barrow was the administrative centre of Furness. It was also a part of Lancashire not Cumbria. The town is located near the centre of Low Furness, on the eastern edge of a valley which crosses the peninsula diagonally. The ruins of the Norman Furness Abbey lie just over a mile to the south. The area is reached by the A590 which now bypasses the town. Dalton railway station gives connections to Barrow, Ulverston, Grange-over-Sands and Lancaster on the Furness line. There are hotels and inns in Dalton-in-Furness and five others within four miles. There is also a bed and breakfast/guest house (b&b). Others are available in the Barrow-in-Furness direction.
