Brampton Hotels

Historic Brampton is located 14 miles east of Carlisle and only 12 miles from the Scottish border. The main cross-country route between Carlisle and Newcastle on Tyne, the A69, bypasses Brampton. Situated in a hollow, the town is surrounded by hills, fields and woodland. It was a important place during Roman times: it is near Hadrians Wall; the period of the Border Raiders and also the Jacobite Uprisings in the 18th century. On Wednesdays a market collects around the Moot Hall (town hall). The market charter was granted to the town way back in 1252. There are several Brampton hotels in or close to the town that can offer any visitor a good selection. The choice includes country house hotels with substantial estate grounds, inns and smaller family run hotels or guesthouses.
