Appleby-In-Westmorland b&b

The River Eden forms a large loop around the town of Appleby-in-Westmorland, which is dominated by a well preserved 12th century Norman castle. This attractive and historic town was once the county town of Westmorland. Appleby is known for its three hundred year old horse fair held every June and the jazz festival in July. There is a choice of good b&b (bed and breakfast) establishments, guesthouses and hotels in or near the town. Pubs and restaurants catering for most tastes are available nearby. Appleby b&bs are a good choice for a holiday exploring the Pennines, the Scottish Border areas and/or the Lake District by foot, bicycle or car. The Settle to Carlisle railway has a major stop at Appleby. The old steam train runs regularly along this part of the line and through magnificent scenery.
